Many drivers expressed their dissatisfaction on Saturday night during the A1 Grand Prix qualifying press conferences in Canada for the second race – Endurance.

According to reports, the young Canadian Robert Wickens allegedly did not respect a yellow flag in the last sector of his fast lap, which required him to slow down. He reportedly took advantage of this to secure pole position, but in complete illegality.

The yellow flag, caused by David Garza’s accident for Mexico in the last corner, was also not respected by other competitors.

The request, signed by a dozen drivers, was reviewed by the commission, which did not deem it necessary, after viewing the videos, to change the grid or penalize the drivers.

Néel Jani, qualified second for Switzerland during the endurance race, commented: « There is a rule for yellow flags that must be respected. Therefore, one should not be allowed to improve their times with a yellow flag… »

« I am disappointed because in this case, I could have also kept going full throttle when I saw the yellow flag and maybe secured pole position. The rules are a bit strange… » Declares the current championship leader.
