Double World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm stated that since he left the WRC at the end of the 2007 season, he missed the excitement of the competition but not its length.
Grönholm, who has an ambassador contract with Ford, has not denied the possibility of a return to competition in the future, certainly in rally, rallycross, or motocross but not for a full program.
Speculation has intensified since Grönholm secretly took the wheel of a 500-horsepower Ford Fiesta Rallycross during a test in Sweden in early March.
The 40-year-old Finn has no direct ties to rallycross but knows Andreas Eriksson, who manages the Ford Team RS Sweden, the team preparing the two Fiestas for the European Rallycross Championship. After this test, Grönholm expressed interest in participating in a race behind the wheel of one of the cars in Sweden or Norway.
« It can be fun to do a race, but only one », warns Grönholm. « I don’t like the idea of going away for eleven weekends. I no longer like working on weekends even if I miss the feeling of competition a bit. »
