Malaysian GP – Williams is pumped up!

It’s a completely different status that the Williams team must now uphold: With Rosberg’s podium and Nakajima’s 6th place in Australia, the team is currently second in the constructors’ championship.

Certainly, the Japanese driver will start with 10 places less on the starting grid at Sepang, but the main goal is to secure the qualifications where Williams can still make progress and perhaps even aim for the front row!

Nico Rosberg – Racing Driver

« Sepang is one of my favorite circuits on the calendar. We should be stronger than in Melbourne. We are looking for another good performance. Maybe not a podium, but a reasonable number of points. It seems we have a car that isn’t too troubled by the tires, which may suffer from the heat in Malaysia, that’s a positive point. »

« Physically, these races are really tough, especially in terms of concentration. That’s why I worked so hard during the winter to be fit to face these conditions. I’m going to Singapore this week to visit the new circuit, so I have a few days to relax before making the trip to Malaysia.

Kazuki Nakajima – racing driver

« We achieved a very good result at the opening Grand Prix in Australia. I will have a ten-place grid penalty. This situation will not be easy for me, but I will focus on my race and do my best. »

« Sepang is really a beautiful circuit. As in Australia, temperatures will, once again, be extreme, so it will be another difficult weekend for everyone. I will be present in Malaysia to continue my learning. »

Sam Michael – Technical Director:

It will be hot and humid in Kuala Lumpur, and the weather forecasts predict nothing significantly different from other years. With only one week between two Grand Prix, we will focus on the reliability, which was somewhat lacking last Friday in Melbourne.

« Our qualifying performance in Australia was not bad, but given the time we lost in practice, and then the many red and yellow flags during qualifying, it did not meet our expectations. We are here to improve in this event and strengthen our second place in the constructors’ championship. »

« The track in Malaysia is mainly composed of medium and high-speed corners. There are also two straights where the engine power will be put to the test. With some overtaking opportunities, we should witness an exciting race. »
