Red Bull has no doubt about the strength of its suspensions!

Red Bull’s team, through Christian Horner, explained the current situation regarding its repeated accidents, the main cause of which remains the suspensions.

David Coulthard, the number 1 driver for the energy drink brand, faced his second accident in two Grand Prix weekends this morning. The Briton went off the track in turn number 13 during the first free practice session today and broke both his suspensions, helpless, on the curbs…

Last week, it was after the collision with Massa that Coulthard’s left front suspension didn’t hold up. The same one that gave out first this morning.

Despite the similarities between the circumstances of the two accidents, the Red Bull team sought to reassure by stating that there was no doubt about the strength of the Austrian suspensions: « The curb on turn no. 13 is slightly higher than the others. If you take it too fast, it will not forgive », Horner explained. « If you watch the video closely, you will notice that it is the wing that breaks first… » [View Video]

« The car was in the air in Melbourne when the suspension broke, leaving all the weight on a single wheel… So I don’t see anything unusual. » He continues.

« These cars are not designed to fly or land. Any single-seater that had such a significant impact during a race and on the track would have had the same damage… »

Currently, suspicions are hovering over a possible breakage of a steering arm of the right front wheel, which may have initially caused Coulthard’s off-road exit. The FIA, along with the team, is investigating.

« We are investigating. It seems that Coulthard felt something that made him veer to the right. Perhaps a puncture, or something else. We will have the answers later in the day, I hope… »
