Even if it doesn’t show, Ferrari must have a semblance of relief tonight, even though the biggest challenges are yet to come. And for good reason, after the worst start to a season in its history just a week ago in Australia, the Scuderia is eager to take its revenge.
The results of the day are clear and unambiguous: Räikkönen and Massa placed in the top 3 in both practice sessions of the day.
But the real test will be tomorrow with the qualifications still as crucial for Sunday’s race.
Kimi Räikkönen – 2nd and 2nd:
« This morning, I lost time due to a communication problem within the team, but it did not happen again in the second session. The car seems to be working well and I am happy with the work we have accomplished. »
« We mainly worked on the tires, but I think that even with softs, we can be competitive. It is always difficult to say where we stand compared to our competitors, but I think we can approach the rest of the weekend with confidence. »
Felipe Massa – 1st and 3rd:
« I am very satisfied with these two practice sessions. The car proved to be very fast and consistent on both types of tires. It’s a shame because I couldn’t make the most of my second set of soft tires when I found myself behind Hamilton, who was going slowly. »
« We are working in the right direction for the qualifications and the race. »
