Todt could be Mosley’s successor!

The former Ferrari team principal, Jean Todt, says he is open to the idea of taking on a new role in motorsport.

Last week, he resigned from his position as CEO of Ferrari, but promised to take on a consulting role for the Scuderia for up to three years.

The change in position of the Frenchman has sparked rumors that he could be the potential successor to Max Mosley as head of the FIA. And, interestingly, he has not denied this possibility.

Present in Ferrari’s motorhome during the Malaysian Grand Prix, Todt admitted he does not intend to fully retire.

« Since Wednesday, I am a member of the board of directors of Ferrari and advisor to the company’s president Luca di Montezemolo, » Todt explained about his new role.

« I will both support him and support the team for a specified period. This will last from one to three years, which will allow me to have time to devote to my personal interests, something that hasn’t happened in the last 25 years. »

« I have never missed a day of work and this free time will be considered a new professional and private chapter of my life. It’s fantastic. »

Todt is well aware of the speculation about him being a likely candidate to succeed Mosley. And, evidently motivated by the idea of a new challenge, he refused to deny the possibility of joining the FIA when questioned about it.

« I am always motivated for everything. Max Mosley is a great president. I know he faces a lot of criticism, but for me, he is someone exceptional for the sport and for the partners. He is a friend, » he commented.

« I think I’m still too young to retire and I’m always in pursuit of new challenges to overcome. I’ve never really had the time to think about it because Ferrari occupied more than 14 hours of my day. »

« I will fulfill my duty for Ferrari, this will constitute half of my time, and the rest will be devoted to trying to do other things, » concluded Jean Todt.
