Optimism on the BMW-Sauber side

Christian Klien also contributed to the current success of his BMW-Sauber team. The Austrian is delighted with the sensational result at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Klien is present every time Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica battle on the track for the world championship. He always has to be ready, in case he needs to replace one of the two drivers. At the same time, he learns new things day by day about his team and follows with great interest all the work being done on the F1.08.

The 25-year-old driver was impressed by what he saw in Malaysia, where BMW-Sauber amassed a total of eleven points.

« This is a sensational result for the team. Robert had a fantastic race. For now, we are second in the Constructors’ Championship, which is a great performance. It shows that all the concessions made over the winter are paying off, » said Klien.

The German team was able to improve the competitiveness of its F1.08 during the pre-season. Evidence of this performance gain comes from Nick Heidfeld, who set the fastest lap in the race during the penultimate lap of the Sepang race. A first for the team.

« This shows that we have the adequate speed, » he analyzed.

However, Robert Kubica prefers to moderate his enthusiasm, at least for the moment: « I prefer to keep my feet on the ground. »

« Let’s not forget that to win races, you not only have to bridge the gap with other teams, but you also have to go faster than them, » he cautiously added.
