The FIA will hold a vote of confidence for President Max Mosley on June 3, following the Senate’s acceptance of his request for an extraordinary General Assembly meeting.
He asked the president of the FIA Senate for this meeting to discuss the media fallout from the scandal over the revelations of the Briton’s private life.
The extraordinary session will be held in Paris and will include a secret ballot vote of confidence by more than 200 members of the general assembly.
Mosley requested this meeting to explain his position and provide perfect clarity on the situation to the FIA. Last week, several national automobile associations and major Formula 1 manufacturers requested that the governing body act with full awareness.
For now, the president is determined to continue playing his role. He said so in a letter addressed to the FIA last week.
A statement released today by the FIA said: « The FIA is able to confirm that Senate members unanimously approved the FIA President’s proposal for an extraordinary general assembly. »
« The meeting will be held on June 3, 2008, in Paris. The General Assembly will include a vote of confidence by secret ballot. »
