Rumors had been launched after the incident in Oschersleben about the fact that Mattias Ekström was not able to participate in the first race of the DTM season. He suffered a slight concussion after being involved in an accident during last week’s testing.

Today, the Swede confirmed that he will indeed be at Hockenheim: “Of course, I wanted to participate in all the tests, but it wasn’t a great loss. I continued with my physical preparation. I prepared as much as possible for this first race,” said Ekström.

The first race will take place as usual, this Sunday, at Hockenheim. Audi will make its debut with the new A4 model, something Ekström is eagerly anticipating.

« Hockenheim is a special race because we will really be able to see the performance level of our car compared to our competitors. Last year, I won this first race, and I would be delighted if the outcome were the same on Sunday. »

The slight concussion did not unduly affect the pilot.

« I am in good shape and am really looking forward to my return to racing, » concluded Ekström.
