During the Barcelona race a few months ago, where Audi withdrew all its cars after incidents with the drivers of its competitor Mercedes, emotions were high. Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug and Audi Motorsport boss Wolfgang Ullrich now seem to have turned the page.

« The most important thing is that the customer is king, » said Haug to the magazine Motorsport Aktuell.

« We need the races and mainly the last race of the season, which should be synonymous with a celebration of motorsport. I hope that when we start the 2008 season, it will be the same, » continued Haug.

After the 2007 Spanish race, the emotion was strong even among the smallest manufacturers.

« I do not understand how such a decision could be made to remove the cars from the starting grid, especially when we are placed at the front of it. »

Today, Ullrich has put this incident behind him and is now focused on the DTM and the first race where the new Audi A4 will debut.

« We are looking to defend the title. Of course, we don’t know where we stand with the new car. In DTM, it is important to have a good car that is fast and reliable from the start. These are the points we have been working on over the past few months, » commented Ullrich.
