The technical director of the Ferrari team, Stefano Domenicali, claims that the Scuderia is keeping ‘its feet on the ground’ regarding the fact that it has achieved two consecutive victories.
After a disastrous start to the season in Australia, the Italian team managed to regroup in Malaysia and then in Bahrain, where Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa each secured the 10 points promised to the winner of a race.
Ferrari is now one point behind the BMW team in the constructors’ standings, and McLaren is just one point behind the Scuderia.
Despite this good current form, Domenicali tempers the situation by admitting that his team has never worked as hard as they have since the beginning of the season and even now as the Spanish Grand Prix approaches.
« The real Ferrari is not the one we glimpsed during the Melbourne Grand Prix. The team immediately reacted and showed the great potential of its package, which is extremely competitive, » commented the team principal on the Ferrari website.
« That said, we need to be aware. We are approaching the Spanish race by making maximum efforts and staying grounded. We were not depressed after the first race, and we are not euphoric after Bahrain. »
« We need absolute motivation, and we are aware that our competitors are improving. »
« We need the best possible F2008 with the best drivers, the best engineers, and the best mechanics to better compete on the track, » he added.
