Encouraging signs amidst the Super Aguri turmoil…

The financial crisis that Super-Aguri is going through is unprecedented, but two positive signs have emerged from Leafield.

First of all, as we mentioned to you last night, one of the Japanese team’s convoys has left for the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona where the next Grand Prix will take place.

Of course, there remains uncertainty as to whether Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson will be able to show a semblance of competitiveness against the other teams.

For its part, the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport reveals that negotiations to save the team are in full swing, particularly concerning the role played since last Wednesday by the F1 boss, Bernie Ecclestone. He personally intervened to come to the rescue of Super-Aguri.

For the team to survive, it needs 2 million euros by Monday. Ecclestone, 77, is also in talks with another buyout group, this time German.

Of course, the simplest solution would be to convince Honda to continue supplying engines for Super Aguri until the end of 2009.
