Justin Wilson takes pole position for the final Champ Car race in Long Beach.

The Briton overcame the pressure exerted by Alex Tagliani of Walker Racing, finishing only 0.182 seconds behind the pole man.

Wilson clocked a time of 1:06.902, six-tenths faster than Sébastien Bourdais in 2007. Wilson is thus on pole for the last event in the Champ Car World Series championship.

Behind Tagliani, we find Franck Perera, the Frenchman who took a superb third place. The Frenchman was only 16th on the grid on Friday after fuel pressure issues on his car.

Will Power for KV Racing, and the Forsythe Pettit duo, Paul Tracy and Franck Montagny complete the top six. The former F1 test driver thus exits with honors.

Finally, the third Frenchman, Nelson Philippe, more than makes up for his bad Friday. After a gearbox problem, he couldn’t do much during practice but secures a very nice seventh position on the starting grid.

Enrique Bernoldi (Conquest), Graham Rahal (Lanigan Newman Haas) and Mario Dominguez (Pacific Coast) complete the top 10.
