We informed you last week that Mickael Herck would not be able to participate in the first round of the GP2 Series season. The 19-year-old Belgian fractured his wrist during a race a month ago in Bahrain and will not be able to return before the second meeting of the European series.
To replace him, his team, DPR or David Price Racing, called upon Giacomo Ricci today, a young Italian, new to GP2, and previously present in Champcar Atlantic (the series below Champcar, now merged with the IRL).
“We are obviously disappointed not to start the season with Herck, but we are happy to welcome Ricci for the opening of the GP2 Series. I hope he will quickly adapt to the discipline,” said the team manager, David Price.
« He has no experience, so it won’t be easy, but we will do everything to make him feel comfortable and provide him with a good single-seater! »
« It will also be the first time for the team running with the 2008 GP2 version. In this regard, everyone will be on the same level playing field. »
