Assessment – Friday – All in ease for BMW

BMW-Sauber had good tests in the morning before collapsing during the second free practice held in the afternoon under the radiant sun of Barcelona.

The two drivers of the German team ranked in the top 10 this morning and completed half as many laps as they did in the afternoon. But all remain confident for tomorrow, which mainly involves the qualifying sessions.

Robert Kubica – 4th and 12th

« It is very important for me to do a lot of laps. I didn’t have the chance to prepare for this Grand Prix during the last week of testing. I worked with 2009 tires. However, with this program, we made a great number of changes and evaluated the tires. We now need to examine the data and prepare for tomorrow. »

Nick Heidfeld – 9th and 13th

« From my point of view, this first day of testing went well. We didn’t have any problems, and we tested as planned. Regarding the balance of the car, it’s not perfect yet, but I think we can improve it by tomorrow. »

Willy Rampf – Technical Director

« Although we tested right here last week, there is still work to be done, especially because the weather conditions were perfect today. »

« As always on Fridays, we are 100% focused on race preparation, particularly on tire performance. Both drivers have different programs. We now have a good foundation on which we can build something serious. »
