Hirohide Hamashima – Director of Bridgestone Motorsport:
Congratulations to Kimi Räikkönen for his first pole of the year and also congratulations to Fernando Alonso for managing to return to the forefront at home in front of his supporters.
« It was a very difficult qualifying session for the drivers as only one second separated the top 15 cars in Q1 and Q2. The teams found the perfect settings to get the best out of our two compounds, the hards and mediums, which we brought them after last week’s tests. »
« The performances observed during the trials are back as the track improves. Tomorrow, we will witness a very interesting race. So far, there hasn’t been much difference between the two compounds, which means that many strategy options are possible for tomorrow’s race. »
