Ferrari team will not use its new aerodynamic invention at the Turkish Grand Prix.
The Scuderia presented this concept during the pre-Spanish Grand Prix tests, and then used it during the Grand Prix where the team achieved a one-two finish with Kimi Räikkönen ahead of Felipe Massa.
Despite this success, Ferrari will not use the hole in the nose due to the characteristics of the circuit. However, it is possible that it will make its big return at the Monaco Grand Prix at the end of the month.
Luca Baldisserri – Technical Director:
« We hope to maintain our momentum as last season we won right here and we have accumulated three consecutive victories since Malaysia. »
« The cars used by Kimi and Felipe are essentially the same as those used in Spain, except that in Istanbul, we will not use the ‘hole in the nose’. This is because this concept is much more effective on tracks where grip is medium or high, whereas in Turkey, it is much less significant. »
« This new nose worked very well, but as we said when it debuted in the race in Barcelona, we will use it on circuits where we believe it provides a real advantage compared to our other more traditional components. »
Kimi Räikkönen – Race Car Driver
« I am very happy with the current situation but it can turn in a second: we need to work at 100% to stay ahead of our competitors. »
« I am not going to change my approach. It’s too early to think about anything other than victory. We are the championship leader, but it’s not important at the moment. What matters is to be the leader at the end of the season. If we want to stay ahead, the simplest way is to stay in front of the others during the races. »
I bet our competitors have worked tirelessly to beat us as soon as possible. But I’m not worried because we have also worked hard and I’m convinced that Ferrari is very strong.
