GP – A More Than Favorable Outcome for Räikkönen

Kimi Räikkönen congratulates himself on his third place at the Turkish Grand Prix after a rather difficult weekend.

The Ferrari driver began his Turkish weekend with a gearbox problem on Friday and delivered a disappointing qualifying performance, ending up in fourth position.

At the start of the race, Räikkönen made contact with Heikki Kovalainen’s McLaren but managed to finish the race with his front wing damaged.

Despite this problem, the Finn could aim for second place to secure another Ferrari one-two but ultimately finished on the third step of the podium.

« I didn’t have a very good start. I was next to Kovalainen, I could have gone on the inside, I tried to slow down. He turned a little and we touched. I broke my front wing and he got a flat tire. That’s racing, » he explained.

We chose to use this front wing for the entire race because it took too long to change. It was a tough weekend, but at least we scored points.

« I think qualifying might be our weak point. We had a bit more fuel than the others, that’s why we were slower. Also, the lap wasn’t as good as we had hoped. It all started on Friday with that first incident, » the championship leader said.
