The president of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA), Mark Webber, congratulated race director Charlie Whiting for acting quickly following the incident where stray dogs disrupted the GP2 sprint race in Turkey.

Whiting wrote a report to the FIA in which he expressed his concern about this incident that could have had dramatic consequences. Bruno Senna, in fact, hit one of these dogs and had to retire.

These events took place on Sunday morning, raising some concerns for the upcoming F1 race. Whiting then called for an increase in security measures and a full investigation into what had happened. A move that Webber fully supported.

“They are great,” said Webber about the FIA, which decided to take action.

« It’s a serious problem. Not only for the dogs because it’s cruel to them, but the issue is that they shouldn’t be allowed within a certain perimeter. It’s also very dangerous for the pilots. »

« In 2008, I think we should have sites where certain things must not happen. »

Webber added that he had great confidence in Whiting and his various actions. As proof, the Australian didn’t even bother to express any concerns about the Formula 1 race taking place a few hours later.
