Renault trailing on Day 1

Renault resumed its testing program, completing the first of its three test days at the Circuit Paul Ricard yesterday. The team focused on an extensive development program in preparation for the Monaco Grand Prix, which will take place next week.

Lucas di Grassi was behind the wheel and used the short track configuration to best simulate the characteristics of the Monaco circuit. The Brazilian took advantage of near-ideal conditions to complete 146 laps and evaluate developments that the team is considering adopting in upcoming races. This day was therefore productive and the team managed to complete its program. Nelson Piquet will take over for the rest of the week.

Lucas Di Grassi:

« We prepared the car for next week’s race in Monaco and we needed to test some parts to be sure everything was okay. The day was productive and we assessed almost all the items we needed to review. »

« I was happy to be back in the car and to complete so many laps. A good day, then! »

Christian Silk – Chief Engineer of the Test Team

« We had a rather good day of running, covered quite a few kilometers, and were able to achieve almost all our objectives. We completed many laps because the weather forecast is not optimistic for the coming days. »

« We had to carry out as many assessments as possible in case the weather deteriorates. It was also important to give Lucas the opportunity to feel comfortable in the car because that is what he mainly needs at the moment. »
