Sebastian Vettel is adamant: Scuderia Toro Rosso must introduce its new single-seater at all costs despite a difficult circuit.

Yesterday, after an encouraging first day of testing with the STR3 at Paul Ricard in France, Vettel remains optimistic about his team’s progress and strongly supports the idea of not further delaying the introduction of the car.

The layout and nature of the Monaco circuit, which leads to an increased risk of accidents, means the team will face an additional challenge. The arrival of the STR3, originally scheduled for the Turkish Grand Prix, had to be delayed due to a lack of spare parts.

« It is true there isn’t much space, but we have waited so long for this car… » declared Vettel in response to the question about the dangers of introducing the new single-seater in Monaco.

« I am delighted about this one. Monaco may not be the ideal place to introduce a new car, but if you don’t start driving or working with the new car, you’ll never get used to it. »

When asked whether he thought the car could be competitive enough to aim for Q3 in qualifying, the German said: « You never know. It depends on others, maybe five drivers will have a bad day. Our goal is to have a good day without excuses. We are here to win but we are fighting against ourselves first. »
