Max Verstappen asserts that the Red Bull is not designed for his driving style

« These are nonsense. » Max Verstappen couldn’t be clearer. Faced with the lead he has in the championship over his rivals, mainly Sergio Perez, some have started to think that Red Bull is producing cars suited to the Dutchman’s style.

With a lead of 138 points over his teammate after 13 rounds, doubts from some could be justified. But according to the main person involved, this is absolutely not the case. And he wanted to clarify the situation.

« My style of driving doesn’t have anything special »

« It doesn’t work like that. I simply drive the car that is entrusted to me in the fastest way possible. I’m not here to tell the guys to give me more [training] beforehand because that’s what I like, he confirmed.

« I just say, “Design the fastest car for me and I will drive it accordingly.” It’s different every year, each car handles a little bit differently. People ask, “What’s your driving style?” My driving style is nothing special, I adapt to what I need in order for the car to go fast. »

An important job in the garage

Even if the car were not designed according to his tastes, Max Verstappen dominates the championship and reminds us that the car is not everything. It is a personal and team effort.

« I’m not here to try to prove anything, I’m just here to do the best I can with the material I have. And probably people don’t know what’s happening within the team, and how difficult it is, when you have a really good car, to do what we’re doing as a team and win all the races so far. »
