GP – Rosberg is optimistic before the qualifying session

Nico Rosberg is confident that his Williams team can put strong pressure during the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying since the German made promising starts in practice.

The German driver was only beaten by Lewis Hamilton during the second practice session on Thursday, a performance that leaves him optimistic before the qualifying.

« First of all, it is really nice to be here to drive because it is simply an exceptional track, » said Rosberg.

I was looking forward to this weekend because I thought we were going to have a good car. It seems that the setup is good.

« I felt comfortable in the single-seater. I am capable of continuing down this path by doing a good job in qualifying and then in the race. »

« We know where we need to go, and we still have reserves, so I am quite happy to see the situation evolve in this way. »

His teammate, Kazuki Nakajima, did not have as good of a day, although the Japanese driver believes there is still time to improve.

« Thursday wasn’t easy for me, but I think we made some improvements. »

« With this Friday without practice sessions, we have plenty of time to study the data that will help us prepare for the qualifications. »
