GP – Hamilton stunned by the speed of the Ferraris!

Lewis Hamilton himself admitted to being surprised by the pace set by the Ferraris in the qualifying session as they secured the front row ahead of the two McLarens. Hamilton is third while his teammate, Kovalainen, is fourth.

« We thought we would be a little faster, but we were surprised by the pace of the Ferraris, » he stated.

« However, I am happy with the way the session went. My lap was quite good, there were no traffic issues, and the car was competitive. »

« I think we lost time in the second sector, probably going through the tunnel. In the last sector, the time lost is in the corners because I can’t afford to brake any later. »

But Hamilton believes that it will still be possible tomorrow to challenge Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen for the victory.

« In testing or qualifying, doing a lap is very easy. We will be very strong in the race and we will be able to face the competition. »

On the contrary, the second McLaren driver, Heikki Kovalainen, is not surprised to see the Ferraris on the front row.

The Finn was the fastest during the third and final practice session on a damp track that was tending to dry.

They certainly haven’t lost any of their potential here for this race weekend. They are certainly very good and very competitive, explained the former Renault driver about Massa and Räikkönen.
