The stewards of the Monaco Grand Prix have decided not to penalize Kimi Räikkönen after his crash with Adrian Sutil.
The incident occurred just minutes before the end of the race, depriving the Force India driver of a true achievement.
Although the accident was clearly caused by Räikkönen, the race stewards decided that no action was necessary.
« The commissioners heard the explanations of both parties and we decided that the incident did not require any action, » they stated in a statement.
Räikkönen, of course, apologized, stating that he hadn’t done it on purpose.
« It was a great race with an incredibly sad ending. We could have been fourth. It’s truly bad luck that Kimi ran into me. He didn’t do it on purpose.
