Rubens Barrichello, the most experienced driver still on the track, believes he has never been as good in racing today since the beginning of his career.
The Brazilian who, in Turkey, celebrated his 257th Formula 1 Grand Prix, admits that he just needs a competitive car to show his true potential.
Barrichello scored his first points in over a year at the last Grand Prix in Monaco, where he finished in sixth position with Honda.
The 36-year-old man added that he was motivated by Ross Brawn’s arrival at the head of the team and is not thinking about stopping for now.
« I am very motivated by the arrival of Ross Brawn, » said Barrichello on the official Formula 1 website.
« However, the single-seater is not yet performing well enough compared to what I expect. »
He added: « Obviously, everything is fine physically and mentally. »
I don’t feel like a 36-year-old guy. I appreciate each race, one after the other.
The Brazilian, winner of nine Grand Prix races, concluded by saying that he truly missed standing on a podium.
« I no longer win races, in fact, I miss it terribly. That’s why I’ve put so much effort into testing to get results. »
