Nico Rosberg with Williams was the fastest in this final practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix.
Kimi Räikkönen’s Ferrari took second place behind Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton is third, and the reigning world champion’s teammate, Felipe Massa, is fourth.
After the first 45 minutes which went off without incident, the session was interrupted for 14 minutes when Sebastian Vettel’s Toro Rosso crashed into the wall at the exit of turn 9.
The young German emerged from the car unscathed, but his accident left a significant amount of debris on the track. After cleaning, only six minutes of practice remained.
This session was all about the super-soft tires as all the teams tested them in preparation for the qualifying. Unfortunately, the accident involving the Toro Rosso driver disrupted the situation.
This means that Rosberg stayed in the lead by being the fastest in the second half of the session. He exchanged first place twice with Räikkönen before settling on the top step with a time of 1’16”555, with a 0.034 second advantage over Räikkönen.
Kazuki Nakajima finishes fifth with the second Williams ahead of Trulli’s Toyota.
Heikki Kovalainen is only seventh for McLaren, while Nelson Piquet’s Renault finally emerges from the shadows with an encouraging eighth place despite his mistakes.
Behind, Mark Webber (Red Bull) is 9th, Vettel managed to hold on to 10th place despite his crash.
