Bridgestone, the official tire supplier in F1 announced the specifics regarding the type of tires for the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th races of the season.
For the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, the Japanese tire supplier will use medium and hard compounds. It will be the first time these will be used on the German track. Indeed, there was no race on this circuit in 2007.
In Hungary, the soft and super-soft tires will be used, and Bridgestone plans the same tires for the new race in Valencia.
Once again, the hard and medium tires will be used at Spa and Monza, replacing the medium and soft compounds used last year.
« The data we gathered from the first seven races of the season allowed us to allocate for the next five Grand Prix, » said Hirohide Hamashima, the director of Bridgestone Motorsport.
« We didn’t have a race at Hockenheim last year, this will be the first time we race with this type of tires. Valencia, of course, is a new street circuit. So we don’t have any previous data. »
« For Spa and Monza, big change, which was a difficult decision to make, to opt for hards and mediums. »
« We made this change by dropping the tender and medium duo after analyzing last year’s data. »
« We will make an announcement about the tires used for the last four races of the season a bit later in the season, » concluded the Japanese.
