With Giancarlo Fisichella on one side, who has his worst Formula 1 memories at the Magny-Cours circuit, and Adrian Sutil on the other, who considers this event one of his favorites, French fans can expect anything from Force India.
The Indian team is the only one that could not participate in the Barcelona tests. Finally, the new updates of the VMJ01 are expected only for the British Grand Prix. Before that, the final event at Magny Cours must be secured.
Giancarlo Fisichella – Race Car Driver
« Magny-Cours is actually one of the circuits I look forward to the least on the calendar. It’s the circuit where I had my biggest accident in Formula 1, in 2002. I don’t have many good memories. »
« Under normal conditions, we must finish the race because we haven’t seen the checkered flag in the last three events. I’m always disappointed with the Canadian race because I couldn’t show my true intentions on a circuit that I particularly love. »
Adrian Sutil – Racing Driver
« I know that many drivers don’t really appreciate this circuit, but it is one of my favorite events. I achieved some good results in F3, then did my first F1 tests on this track. Now, with the race, I naturally have other good memories. »
The last two races have been disappointing in terms of results, with two retirements which are never good, but we were very competitive in these races. In Monaco in particular, but also in Canada where I was very close to the Toyotas.
« We are also better in qualifying, but not enough to get into Q2. We need to work on this subject in France. »
Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director:
« Magny-Cours in France is a more standard circuit compared to the last two Grand Prix in Monte Carlo and Montreal, which are unique in their kind. We are not going to introduce major changes for this race because we are working on a big update package for Silverstone which will arrive two weeks later. »
« We were not present at the Barcelona tests due to logistics after the Canadian GP. Overall, the main objective for the French Grand Prix should be to have both cars at the finish. »
« The races in Canada and Monaco were disappointing because these are races where you can easily gain positions, with the safety car. »
