BMW-Sauber Report – A Disappointing Result After Canada

Robert Kubica expressed great satisfaction with his result at the French Grand Prix even though the Pole lost the championship lead.

Kubica, who achieved his first Formula 1 victory in Canada two weeks ago, had to settle for fifth place. His BMW Sauber did not have the same level of speed as it showed in Montreal.

The Polish driver therefore moves from first to second place in the standings after a Ferrari double in France.

And although he admitted that he was expecting a few more points this weekend, Kubica is happy with the result.

« We didn’t score as many points as we wanted here at Magny-Cours. Throughout the weekend, we tried to minimize the problems we had, and we knew the race would be decided on the first lap, » said Kubica.

« At the beginning I tried to overtake Jarno Trulli, but I didn’t succeed. I tried again on lap 5 on the outside, but that didn’t work either. »

In the end, I have to say that I am quite happy. I finished fifth, just two seconds from the podium. We now need to analyze what happened here and see how we can improve for the next race.

His teammate, Nick Heidfeld, has to forget this day since he only achieved the 13th fastest time with no apparent issues.

« Finishing 13th is certainly a disappointing result. I lost two positions right at the start and couldn’t recover them. Now we will focus on the tests at Silverstone and the next race, » he commented.
