The podium at the French Grand Prix will apparently act as an additional source of motivation for the Toyota team for the rest of the season. This is according to the technical director, Pascal Vasselon.
Jarno Trulli was the surprise of the Magny-Cours race, during which he used an updated single-seater. He finished behind the Ferraris and was able to withstand attacks from Heikki Kovalainen in the McLaren and Robert Kubica in the BMW for third place.
This result is considered by Vasselon as essential to help his team in the pursuit of better results for the rest of the season.
« For the whole team, it’s a true reward. All the teams work very hard, and when you achieve such a result, you can work even more because you don’t feel so tired. You don’t feel the stress, and the circumstances bring additional motivation for the people, » explained Vasselon.
« It’s also a real podium, there wasn’t any race incident. So, it’s truly our position. »
Trulli was evidently delighted with the result, which is the best of the season.
« Every weekend, we have to be present. After the qualifications, there was a real goal in my mind. I knew I could do it. I knew it would be very, very difficult, but ultimately we did it. »
