Honda is looking for a spare wheel in its suspension

Honda’s team principal, Ross Brawn, remains cautious at the start of this testing week, where a new suspension will be introduced. He hopes it can improve the overall performance of the car.

The RA108 has experienced highs and lows this season, and the team is already working on resolving its issues for 2009.

It is in this spirit that Honda will introduce a new suspension in testing. The tests began today in Jerez, Spain.

« These tests will be very interesting because we will have another rear suspension, » explained Brawn.

« I think that changing some of the fundamental principles in the very behavior of the single-seater will prove to be constructive. »

Brawn stated that the design of the new 2009 suspension was already in his mind. He believes that it’s one of the weak points of the Japanese team.

« We had the impression quite early on that it was not a strong point of the car, » he added.

« Therefore, we wanted to improve it. It is a real challenge for our design team. »

« The gearbox will not change, but there are still some modifications to be made, including a new rear suspension. A new aerodynamic package will be necessary around this suspension. »

« The new car is still only on paper, but changing some fundamental principles can only prove beneficial.
