Vitantonio Liuzzi is convinced that the new gearbox for the Force India cars will be ready in time for the next Grand Prix, which is in a week in Hungary. This statement comes as the Indian team participates in the Jerez tests this week.
The test driver completed more than 100 laps with this new system on the first day of testing. He was optimistic about the advanced progress that would allow the team to gain two-tenths of a second per lap.
« It was a good day of testing with over 100 laps. It’s quite positive. No issues were reported on the track, everything apparently works correctly, » said Liuzzi.
« Of course, new adjustments still need to be made before Hungary, but we are happy because the car is reliable. We must hope that there are no problems for the rest of the testing and that we are ready to launch this gearbox in Budapest. »
Liuzzi added that it was important for Force India to seal the gearbox before the end of the week.
« The mileage will ensure that reliability is present. Installation or handling errors can quickly occur. »
« At the moment, it is important to cover kilometers and see that everything is in order, » he concluded.
