Absolute confidence of Heidfeld in the KERS system

Nick Heidfeld is confident that his team, BMW-Sauber, will eliminate all doubts regarding the safety of its kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), despite the incident in Jerez, Spain this week.

The German team was forced to abandon its testing with the KERS when a mechanic was electrocuted after touching the car equipped with the device on Tuesday morning.

The mechanic did not sustain any serious injuries but had to spend a night in the hospital after complaining of dizziness a few hours after the incident.

However, Heidfeld is optimistic because according to him, his team will make the right decisions.

« Of course, the KERS is a new element. I think we are one of the first teams to use it on the track, » affirmed the German.

« Of course, everyone knows what happened and everyone wants to work safely, but when you introduce new technologies, these kinds of things can happen. »

« I am completely confident about the future in terms of security. »
