Timo Glock is set to stay with Toyota next year thanks to his long-term contract he signed with the Japanese team last November.

On the other hand, the latest rumors suggested the retention of the German with a new contract for 2009, considered as a reward for his impressive second place in Hungary this weekend.

The German news agency SID emphasizes that the 26-year-old driver, who is the current GP2 champion, has a contract that is valid for 2009 and likely also for 2010.

Glock celebrated his result at the Hungaroring with an evening at friends’ near Budapest before flying to Los Angeles yesterday for a short stay.

« Over the whole weekend, I was faster than my teammate, » he explained.

« This shows that if the car is performing well, I can demonstrate my potential. »

But Glock doesn’t let it go to his head…

« No one should think now that we will be on the podium at every race, » continued Jarno Trulli’s teammate.

« Our problem was the consistency of the single-seater, but I hope we can start to fix this issue now. »

Glock’s pace in Hungary is all the more remarkable given that two weeks ago he was taken to the hospital following his accident at Hockenheim. Subsequently, food poisoning once again physically weakened him.

Every time I wanted to take a sip during the race, I felt like vomiting. Of the two liters of drink in my bottle, I maybe drank 0.2 liters.
