Red Bull Racing needs to bounce back if it wants to keep hope of finishing fourth in the constructors’ championship in 2008. The team has, in fact, lost ground to its competitors Toyota and Renault in recent races.

Until the Monaco Grand Prix, the team was firmly installed in fourth place but since then it has plummeted in the standings to settle in sixth position. At the same time, Toyota and Renault have gained in performance since mid-season.

The Red Bull team has not scored any points in the last four races, while both Toyota and Renault have been on the podium thanks to their respective second drivers, Timo Glock and Nelson Piquet, allowing Toyota and Renault to pull ahead in the standings. The Japanese team is 11 points ahead of Red Bull, while the French team has seven.

Mark Webber, who scored 18 out of the 24 points in this year 2008, explains that the team will have a hard time regaining this position, valued at 20 million dollars.

« It’s important, and it would be good to achieve it, » said the Australian.

« The team director, Dietrich Mateschitz, is focused on the issue and is under enormous pressure. »

« We have been informed that we must try to achieve this performance, but I don’t think there will be a layoff of 200 people if we finish fifth! »
