Damon Hill reassured all supporters of the British Grand Prix who doubted its disappearance after 2009, as next year Silverstone will host the race for the last time.
When Donington Park was mentioned as the next British paddock from 2010, some saw this news as the next political battle between Bernie Ecclestone and the owner of the Silverstone circuit, the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC).
Indeed, the BRDC has been focusing for a few months on redevelopment plans for the historic site located in Northamptonshire, precisely to meet Ecclestone’s requirements.
But the president of the BRDC and 1996 F1 world champion, Damon Hill, believes that Donington’s plans are real and on the right track for execution.
Moreover, the British newspaper The Guardian reports that the planning permit required for the redevelopment of the Donington area, which is to be submitted to the municipality in the coming weeks, will certainly be approved.
Hill stated: « Regarding the 2010 British Grand Prix, we are heading towards Donington. »
« What we now have to do is ensure that Silverstone remains a center of excellence for British motorsport. »
