The reigning world champion, Kimi Räikkönen, has dismissed all rumors suggesting he is losing motivation for this year. These speculations support others that see the Ferrari driver retiring at the end of his contract, which expires at the end of the next season.

Räikkönen, 28, stated for the German newspaper Bild that his goal remains unchanged: achieving new success in Formula 1.

« I’m still the same guy. If I participate in a race, the goal is to win it, » insisted Räikkönen.

« There is never really any pleasure when you finish fifth or sixth in a race. Even the third step of the podium does not satisfy me. »

« Of course, I want more. Anyone who thinks I’m tired or holding back is completely wrong across the board. »

« If we don’t get both titles at the end of the season, we will be disappointed, » added Räikkönen.

The Finn is currently second in the standings, three points ahead of his teammate Felipe Massa and five points behind the leader Lewis Hamilton.
