Certainly, Scuderia Ferrari is leading the constructors’ standings with an 11-point advantage over the second team, McLaren-Mercedes, but the pressure has never been higher. As proof, the Woking team dominated the last two races and its leading driver, Lewis Hamilton, is at the top of the drivers’ standings ahead of Räikkönen.
Räikkönen feels ready to double his efforts and make up for lost time because the situation is becoming urgent if the Finn wants a second consecutive title both for himself and for his team.
Kimi Räikkönen – Racing Driver:
« It’s time now for me to refocus on my work. Formula 1 is a sport that never stops. The team has worked tirelessly to be ready for the Valencia race, the first round of the last part of the season. From now on, every race will be extremely important and every point highly valuable.
« I know Valencia because we did several tests here last winter. But now we are going to race in the city on a new track: I am sure the atmosphere will be very nice. I discovered the new track from a camera. It looks like a very fast circuit. »
Aldo Costa – Technical Director:
The track seems very interesting by combining different types of turns as well as some high-speed sections, perhaps slightly lower than those observed on the circuit in Montreal, Canada. »
« We are expecting high temperatures this weekend. After configuring the car for high grip in Budapest, we have now returned to a low or medium grip configuration. Some updates were already tested in Jerez the week leading up to the Hungarian Grand Prix. »
