Mark Webber issues an urgent call after the European Grand Prix, which proved disastrous for his Red Bull Racing team, emphasizing that they should not blame all the encountered problems on Renault engines.
Webber and his teammate David Coulthard finished well outside the top 10 in Valencia and thus scored no points, which has been the case for several races. In contrast, this weekend was one for Scuderia Toro Rosso, which delivered fabulous performances.
Red Bull is participating in its fourth season as an F1 team, and Webber believes it’s time to make a 90-degree turn.
« It was a boring race and in any case the whole weekend turned out to be a disaster, » he said.
Although some claim that this lack of competitiveness of Red Bull Racing compared to Toro Rosso stems from the engines, other factors such as setup and operational procedures also play a role in the form of the two teams.
« Well, it’s not just the engine. There is currently a breach in the liner! »
« We started the season well with a lot of points. Then, everything began at the Hockenheim tests where the situation started to get complicated from then on, we were no longer competitive in any practice session or race. »
« We are just on the verge of qualifying for Q3, » concluded the Australian.
