In the current context of discussions about possible new rules for the future, some teams are pushing for a radical change in terms of engines.
According to Austria’s largest daily newspaper, Kronen Zeitung, Renault and BMW want small turbo engines starting from the 2012 season.
The newspaper reports that these teams have proposed a turbo engine with a capacity of 1.5 liters.
To date, Ferrari has some reliability issues with their engines, as evidenced by the recent retirements of Räikkönen and Massa. It is therefore not surprising that their competitors are pushing to end the era of the 2.4-liter V8.
One of the main radars on the Valencia circuit, nevertheless, recorded the following data last weekend: Sébastien Bourdais at 313 km/h, Kimi Räikkönen at 313 km/h, Sebastian Vettel at 313 km/h, Felipe Massa at 312 km/h, and Adrian Sutil at 311 km/h. These drivers took the top five places in top speed.
And for good reason, all these drivers use Ferrari engines…
