The organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix have confirmed a major revision of the timing for the free practice sessions and qualifying during the race weekend. An initial unofficial announcement was made last May.
Multiple concerns had been raised by the F1 teams, citing a lack of time to get accustomed to the darkness with the initial schedule. For this reason, the practice sessions and qualifying will take place later in the evening.
First of all, the first free practice will start at 7:00 PM on Friday, as the sun sets, and the second session is scheduled for 9:30 PM.
The very last practice session, which normally takes place on Saturday morning, will also be held at 7 PM. Finally, the qualifying sessions will take place at 10 PM. The race will remain at its scheduled start time, which is 8 PM on Sunday.
The ticket sales for the first Singapore Grand Prix have been a success, as there are only 1,000 available for the three days of the race.
