Indeed, significant changes to the Spanish circuit were made during the summer holidays, including new asphalt and new run-off areas. All this was necessary to successfully complete a homologation process to satisfy the FIA.
A certain fear has gripped the circuit and its officials as next week marks the last tests of the season. Potential delays were the cause of this mindset.
However, the delegates of the Jerez track stated on Wednesday that the FIA, through the voice of Charlie Whiting, visited the track. Three modifications are necessary to obtain homologation.
Whiting declared that a second line of tires needed to be installed in turns 1, 9, and 15. The circuit is already working on making these changes.
All teams except Ferrari and Force India have confirmed their presence for these tests, which will kick off on Tuesday, September 16.
