The teams are testing new security systems

The FIA conducted automotive safety tests after the second free practice session. Work therefore continues on the overhaul of the regulations.

The teams and sports authorities have examined ways to change the regulations concerning the safety car. For example, getting rid of the need to close the pits in the first moments of a safety car intervention.

Such a change can be triggered by the introduction of a speed limit in the area where the incident occurred. Pilots would then be informed through a visual dashboard and by the implementation of an audible alert via radio.

During a meeting of the FIA Working Group last Wednesday, it was agreed that testing on the latest software developments would be organized in Monza.

This afternoon, a statement released by the FIA confirmed that after the checkered flag announcing the end of the practice session, visual and audible warnings were tested. The drivers then had to choose a mode before returning to the pits.
