Bruno Senna admitted that he will certainly be in Formula 1 next season but wants to first make the competition work.
The Brazilian, nephew of three-time world champion Ayrton Senna, finished the 2008 GP2 championship in second place behind Giorgio Pantano. It was only his second season in this series.
Senna has been linked to several Formula 1 teams. The 25-year-old driver claims that he attracts the greatest interest from certain teams.
« I had a great season in GP2, it was a year with ups and downs but it was enough to finish second. I believe this rank gives me good chances to move up to F1 next year. »
« We have been in discussions with teams. A small number of them have a genuine interest in me, » Senna continued.
« So, there are a few opportunities as a race driver but more as a test driver… But there is strong competition.
The GP2 driver added that one of the teams he was in talks with was Toro Rosso, which needs to confirm its drivers for 2009.
Co-owner Gerhard Berger is a close friend of the Senna family.
« Toro Rosso represents one of the possibilities in Formula 1, it’s not the only one. Berger always gives me wise advice, » he concluded.
