Kazuki Nakajima will remain with Williams next year after the Grove-based team confirmed its 2009 driver lineup.
The Japanese driver has scored several points this season. He also maintains close ties with Williams’ engine supplier, the Japanese team Toyota.
Rosberg had already been signed for the 2009 season after his contract extension last winter. Although disappointing in the middle of the season, the German achieved two podiums with that fabulous second place in Singapore last weekend. A result yet to be matched.
The team had high hopes for its two drivers as well as for Nico Hülkenberg, the test driver, who could help Williams make further progress on the grid next year.
The team boss Frank Williams declared: « I am very happy because we are playing the continuity card in 2009 regarding our drivers. »
« Nico Rosberg is one of the most talented drivers of his generation. Kazuki Nakajima is gaining strength and still has much to offer us, and Nico Hülkenberg is perfect in testing. »
