The organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix are considering a night race for their event following the success of the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend.
After this, a large number of observers stated that this type of race heralded a new dawn for the sport.
Abu Dhabi must still consider the possibility of becoming a night race because its time zone compared to Europe is not constraining. On the other hand, races like those in Sepang in Malaysia or Melbourne in Australia are at the top of the list for this change.
The directors of the Abu Dhabi circuit will unveil their plans for the 2009 race in the week between the Japanese and Chinese Grand Prix.
Philippe Gurdjian, circuit director told Autosport: « The more unique you are in the future, the more successful you will be. »
When asked about the chances of seeing this event run at night, he added: « You will very soon know our intentions. We are going to present the project and you will see what we are going to do.
With the time difference, a night race in Abu Dhabi would be broadcast in prime time on Sunday evening.
