The local district council of Donington Park hopes that the decision on whether to grant the British Grand Prix to be held on its grounds will be made by the end of the year.
The demand planning has been declared valid, and the local district council is now awaiting an environmental impact assessment of the track, stands, and paddocks. With good reason, these infrastructures could affect air quality and bring noise pollution to the region.
John Bridges, a member of the Leicestershire district cabinet, stated: « The prospect of seeing Formula 1 at Donington Park is something truly exciting for the district. We will ensure that the project’s impact on the environment is properly considered. »
« Since Donington Park has been aspiring to host the British Grand Prix for 2010, we have worked closely with the track owners and consultants to ensure we receive the necessary information. »
« I am convinced that if we continue to work together, we will be able to make a decision by the end of the year. »
