BMW-Sauber confirms its 2009 driver lineup

The BMW-Sauber team will retain its current two drivers, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld, for the 2009 season. The German team announced it today.

She also stated that Christian Klien will once again be the test driver.

We will have Nick and Robert at the helm of the two single-seaters, and Christian will bring his experience as a test driver, announced the head of BMW Motorsport, Mario Theissen.

« We have no doubt that we will achieve our ambitious objectives with them for what will be the team’s fourth year.

This announcement puts an end to weeks of speculation about Heidfeld’s future, who still needed to be confirmed by his team.

End also for the Fernando Alonso option at BMW, who had been linked to the team. Now, the Spaniard has the choice between Renault and Honda for 2009.
