Bernie Ecclestone, the supreme chief of Formula 1, expresses his displeasure with Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo’s attitude for belittling the Singapore Grand Prix.
Di Montezemolo stated that he felt like he was at Disneyworld for what was the first F1 race taking place at night. « It’s humiliating for F1, » he had said.
The race was a disaster for Ferrari, which scored no points and saw McLaren take the lead in the Constructors’ Championship.
Ecclestone criticized the lack of tact of Ferrari’s boss who mainly sees his team’s collapse in Singapore.
« After the race weekend, the president of Scuderia Ferrari should have kept quiet and kept a low profile, » said Ecclestone.
« If Massa loses the world championship, it’s the team’s responsibility. The Brazilian lost any chance of a good result in Singapore when he left the pits with his refueling hose. »
Ferrari uses a light system instead of the traditional ‘lollipop’. Ecclestone suggested that Ferrari simplify things.
« Why not use the traditional ‘lollipop man’? Why have another piece of technology that can lead to an error. »
